- │ NEW ADDITIONS TO READER.EXE VERSION 3.xx │
- └──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
-
- 1. There was error with the SWAG title routine that caused it to add about
- 100 bytes to the end of each .SWG file if items were killed or the headers
- were edited. This had no effect on the fuctionality of the program. This is
- now fixed and all future accesses to the files will truncate the empty
- space.
-
- 2. Fixed the problem in READER 3.11 that gave an error after you opened the
- 15th file for viewing. This was caused by a failure to close all of the
- open file handles on exit.
-
- 3. The PRINT funciton line counter was incorrectly counting the lines as
- the snipet was printed. Will now only allow 55 lines per page.
-
- 4. Added the COPY/MOVE functions. Pressing CTRL[C] (Copy) or CTRL[M] (Move)
- will allow these features.
-
- 5. Added HISTORY lists to most of the input lines. Try GREP swag several
- times to see this work. After the first one, you will see a down arrow key
- indicating that a history list is available for this input. This feature
- also works for find in the packet window and on several of the file name
- input lines.
-
- 6. Fixed a problem with the minus('-') key not working properly.
-
- 7. Fixed a problem with the SWAGADDS= switch. Previously, even if ADDS were
- not displayed at the top, CPU time was still taken. To turn ADDS off, set the
- SWAGADDS=NO in the READER.INI file.
-
- 8. Fixed a problem with the printer selection. Now properly allow you to
- select printers 1-3 attached to your system. If printer is not valid, LPT1
- will be defaulted.
-
- 9. Fixed reported error on FIND in snipet window. It would not search the
- very NEXT item following the one displayed at the cursor.
-
- 10. Entirely changed the FIND process on the main snipet screen to permit
- alphanumeric character searching (SPEED SEARCH). In order to do this,
- ALT[F] is now the FIND command key sequence. To find something within the
- snipet windows just type. The search string will be displayed at the bottom
- left corner of the snipet window, and the cursor will automatically move to
- the matching item. Numbers are permitted too. Try entering '19', and you
- will be moved to the 19th item in the window assuming there is one.
-
- 11. Some users reported a considerable delay while SWAG programs looked for
- the .SWG files on their disks. This problem has been eliminated by adding
- the environment varible SWAG to allow total override of the SWAGDIR= switch
- in the READER.INI. Use the command :
-
- SET SWAG=yourpath
-
- at the DOS prompt to set this. This then become the ABSOLUTE location that
- READER and other programs use to as the beginning path for SWAG files and
- WILL OVERRIDE you setting in the READER.INI file.
-
- 12. Added SHOWSTATS= switch to the READER.INI. With this set to YES or
- TRUE, the READER starts in STAT mode.
-
- ADDITIONS AS OF AUGUST 1995
- ---------------------------
-
- 1. Fixed the TIMESTAMP problem where READER would update time/date on the
- SWG file even if you didn't delete or add any snipets to the archive.
-
- 2. When clicking on the down arrow in the list box, mouse cursor would jump
- one step up and two to the left, resulting in a down scroll and then a
- selection of the file at the bottom of the visible list. This would only
- happen when the selection bar has moved to the bottom, and the list starts
- to scroll. Now mouse cursor is better behaved.
-
- 3. Provided a directory picker for the extract article inputline. (for
- folks with long paths who dislike typing). You access the directory
- selection tree by using the down arrow key when the input box in on screen.
- Also, a check is made for valid paths and a valid file name. Failure to
- enter these will produce an error message.
-
- ADDITIONS AS OF NOVEMBER 1995
- -----------------------------
-
- 1. There were NOT any major changes to the READER this time. Mostly
- cosmetic. The version number should be 3.12
-
- 2. Modified the line counter so that snipets greater than 999 lines would
- display properly.
-
- 3. Some users STILL reporting a considerable delay while SWAG programs
- looked for the .SWG files on their disks. This problem can be eliminated
- by adding the environment varible SWAG to allow total override of the
- SWAGDIR= switch in the READER.INI. Use the command :
-
- SET SWAG=yourswagfilespath { including drive letter}
-
- at the DOS prompt to set this. This then become the ABSOLUTE location that
- READER and other programs use to as the beginning path for SWAG files and
- WILL OVERRIDE you setting in the READER.INI file. Try it, you'll like the
- SWAG programs a LOT better.
-
- 4. In the snipet window, TAB gets next record, SHIFT+TAB get previous record.
-
- 5. Fixed the ALT+T, ALT+U so that it tags and untags all of the items in
- the snipet window. Once tagged, F4 will now allow zapping of all tagged
- items, or extraction to a directory on your disk.
-
- ADDITIONS FOR MAY, 1996
- -----------------------
-
- 1. Change input routines in READER so that european characters can be
- recognized. Also converted to country specific uppercase routines.
-
- 2. Fixed problem with the F5 stat function occaisionally returning an
- error.
-
- 3. Cleaned up GREP function to permit more available memory on long
- searches. Also fine tuned GREP code to make it a bit faster. At this point,
- a user would need approximately 400K of free memory to use the READER and
- perform a search.
